Southern to host forum for candidates for mayor

Candidates for Mayor-President of East Baton Rouge Parish will participate in a forum at Southern University on Wednesday, September 3 at 10 a.m. in the Cotillion Ballroom of the Smith-Brown Memorial Union.

The candidates for mayor-president include: incumbent Mayor-President Melvin "Kip" Holden; Metro-Council member and businessman Wayne Carter; defense attorney and former East Baton Rouge Parish School Board member Ron Johnson; and former BREC board member and state Legislative Auditor Dan Kyle.

The forum will consist of opening remarks, a question, and answer session and closing remarks. All candidates will be allowed to respond to the same questions.

The Mayor-President's forum is sponsored by the Southern University System, Southern's Agricultural Research and Extension Center and Department of History.
