SUNO to offer classes at N.O. high school for teens, adults

Southern University, New Orleans will offer college courses for high school students and adults this fall at East St. John High School.

SUNO Chancellor Victor Ukpolo said the University saw a need for more higher education opportunities in the River Parishes, coupled with population growth after Hurricane Katrina.

"We looked at the population shift, and the severe reduction in Orleans Parish population," Ukpolo said. It appeared many of those former New Orleanians had moved northwest to Baton Rouge and to parishes between New Orleans and Baton Rouge.
