SU holds 2008 United Way campus campaign luncheon

Southern University, Baton Rouge geared up for the 2008 Capital Area United Way (CAUW) Campus Campaign with a Coordinator’s Luncheon on July 23 in the Magnolia Room of the Mayberry Dining Hall on the University’s campus.
Janifer B. Peters, Southern’s CAUW campaign chair, and Linda Roberson, SU CAUW co chair/Leadership Givers coordinator presided over the program.
Corey Williams, CAUW campaign associate, spoke about the importance of the CAUW and its plans to be actively involved on the SU campus.
Roberson, introduced the program’s guest speaker Elvondae Raybon, who spoke about the agency and how it has made a positive impact on the lives of the youth that attend the institute and encouraged the coordinators to volunteer at the institute.
BRMI Family Service Coordinator/Case Manager LaDonya Jenkins and students Alvonta Pointer and Raid Powell also addressed the coordinators at the luncheon.
Remarks were made by Southern’s interim vice chancellor for academic affairs Margaret S. Ambrose.
A month later, SUBR held a CAUW campaign training session for the all coordinators and solicitors on Wednesday, August 14. A SU CAUW Campaign Leadership Givers Breakfast is planned for September 4.
Other events are planned to include the students as well as the public for this years SU CAUW Campaign.
